Spectacular. The food is absolutely wonderful. I order the octopus and bone marrow. I highly suggest both. The server was amazing. If there was any little issue, she was ready to take care of everything. I'm very appreciative. It is quite lively over the weekend. It was definitely the place to be on a Saturday night.
We love this place! The ambiance is nice and the staff is always lovely. We always opt for the porterhouse and they always get it at a nice medium rare. Perfect size to share. Mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and asparagus are our go to's. Their chimichurri is absolutely delicious, a little spicy but only a kick. Oh and their bone marrow is REALLY GOOD! Their wine selection is vast and my favorite is the Malbec, Tikal. My boyfriend always opts for their old fashion. There is never any street parking, but there are a couple parking lots near by and within walking distance. I would recommend making a reservation because they do fill up fast.
I've been here four times now and overall it's a nice place. I would say the food quality and portion doesn't match the price point. Pro's are location, free parking in the structures nearby for the first 90 mins, clean bathrooms, pretty decor. The food is just not at the same level of a BOA or Baltaire. Great for lunch since it's off the water but $30 for a steak salad with chewy meat is not ideal.
Just a fair warning-- if you want mustard or BBQ sauce they do not have it here! Interior is clean, decorated nicely, and huge!! Staff is exceptionally kind, and the direct view of the beach is top tier. We came by right when it opened, so wait time was none! We were seated outside and there were heaters located on the ceiling so we wouldn't get cold. Here's what we got/what we thought! Mac & Cheese (Shareable appetizer) (4/5): I am a huge cheese lover, but this might have been overload! The Mac itself is really good; the thick layer of cheese and bacon on top (there's more bacon under there, you just can't see it) were a little much for me. I guess this is a shareable, so it wouldn't be bad to eat maybe a couple of bites, but do not get this if you're eating it alone! Cheeseburger (5/5) - this cheeseburger was very tall!! my boyfriend loved it tho! **No mustard -- they brought out a garlicky mustard seed mix but it wasn't the same **No BBQ -- I'm surprised that BBQ was discontinued at a meat restaurant, but that's what we were told. Whispering Sage (3.5/5): Way too strong for me! My boyfriend liked it, but I thought it was a little heavy on the lemon. If you like sweet drinks, this one is not for you. Cucumber drink (5/5): Boyfriend loved it! I did not, but if you're a fan of cucumber, lime, a little sour and bitter, and tajin, you might enjoy this one. Also super strong! My boyfriend had also hyped up their free bread that comes out before the meal, but instead of it being free it is now $11. Unlimited, but still. We didn't order any.
This place was amazing. From the steaks to the staff. Everything was done to perfection. I will definitely be making a return trip.
Located on Ocean and looking onto Santa Monica pear, it is definitely in an amazing location and view! Waking into the restaurant. We instantly felt like it is related to water grill restaurant and we were right!! Our server was Max, he is an amazing person and very welcoming and friendly to talk too! Food was great, the charcuterie was our highlight since we love that! The steak was ok, we got the 45day aged bone in ribeye Next time, I will stick to the snake river!
The name of this restaurant is legit what they are - meat on ocean, prime view bordering near the santa monica pier, you can see the ferris wheel from the dining room. Amazing selection of dry aged steaks. They have a whole dedicated dry meat room! Did my research to find the best place to get dry aged steak without making such a huge debt hole and this was it. They even let you pick the age - 30/45/60 days and what type of meat you want. I appreciate it was a casual spot too most other places around were upscale dining and we didn't want to dress up. Most of those fancy places too just have a 'dry aged' single option. The service was exactly what we wanted - straight forward, knowledgable / honest about the bone : meat ratio per oz too (as in if you want x oz amount of meat, you need to order x oz to account for the bone). The appetizers bread and pork belly were okay. The bread looks huge but its fluffy inside like mini texas toasts. The pork belly was served with a small salad with a classic ' asian seasoning ' (like a thai flavor). We got the 30 day aged ribeye, porterhouse, and t bone. My favorite was the ribeye then porterhouse finally t bone. All great cuts though! I am particular with my steak sauce and only like chimmy... but the guys I went with got other sauces but we weren't a huge fan of them. We ordered classic steak sides all done well nothing over the top but we were again only there with high expectations for the meat which met our standards. However, for some of the meats couldn't really get the dried age taste from all parts of the steak. Perhaps next time we will get a longer dried meat - maybe 45 days?
The food is excellent. We had a large group so we had a private room. The service was outstanding. When we arrived, they led us to the room, said to ask to adjust the temperature or music level ar any time. They kept our wine glasses full...it was a great time. We has a prefixed menu with salads, choose of NY strip or fish, sides to share, and NY cheesecake for dessert. It was all very good and great dining experience. It's directly across from the Santa Monica pier, so you could arrive early or check it out after dinner.
Meat on Ocean made my birthday unforgettable! My girlfriend and I shared the Ribeye and Filet Mignon, and both were absolutely perfect. The ribeye was rich, juicy, and packed with flavor, while the filet mignon was incredibly tender and practically melted in each bite. The mashed potatoes on the side were creamy and buttery, the ideal complement to our steaks. Every bite was indulgent and so well-prepared, making it one of the best steak dinners I've had. With the ocean view and exceptional service, it was a memorable celebration from start to finish. Highly recommend for any special occasion!
